We ask what was used before mass produced products became the norm. Not long ago everything was made by hand. No indecipherable fillers. No undisclosed ingredients. They weren't just unnecessary, they were unavailable. Ingredients came from simple processes accessible to everyone. They were made, grown, and raised yourself or by someone you knew. It was personal.
Ingredients used to trace back thousands of years, right to where personal care and beauty practices began. Ancient Egypt. The ancients had to discover what worked for themselves. They found ways to take care of themselves to be beautiful. Beauty that is admired even today. Timeless.
This depth of knowledge is lost on the way products are made today. Unknown processes hidden by trade secrets from monolith companies that simply don't care. The cheaper, bigger, faster mentality drives the race to the bottom. They moved away from what was once close to nature. Convenience comes at a cost. And you pay the price. When you reinvent the wheel you inevitably cycle back through the trial and error necessary to make something good. With the constant push towards the new these errors are unfortunately passed onto the consumer.
